The Women's March : A Cause for Applause

This past Saturday, the wander women joined in solidarity with women in Ottawa (and all across the world) as we marched from Parliament Hill all the way through downtown to the Bronson Center. There were many drastic changes that took place in 2017, and though there was progress (and moments of regress), we continue to work and stand to protect the rights of women and of all vulnerable citizens. As proud, independent, hard-working and free-spirited young women, we’d have to be out of our minds to not be feminists supporting a cause that does nothing but support us, and the progress we hope to make.

So we met up with a couple of our fellow female friends and rallied on the hill, ready to take part in the march. Dressing warm for the cool weather, getting there early to soak up the atmosphere, and taking the time to snap pictures of some really innovative signs, we walked in the midst of the crowd, answering back to the multiple cheers sounding around. It wasn’t just about the incredible energy, the worthy cause or the strong solidarity throughout the day, it was also the little sliver of history that we were taking part in. We were part of a movement that demands change, and that’s also taking the right steps towards achieving it.

If you were also part of the Women’s March in your own cities, send us some pictures, or let us know where you marched in the comments! Sometimes we wander and walk in the right direction.
