I Settle Back In : A Travel Poem
I settle back in
to what I know. A few hours in
I’m relaxed though a
little tired. I clean up, pack up
and put away, only to miss it a day
after. I move things around, clear the
clutter and throw out everything
I can’t imagine
myself taking with me and then I’m
left with an emptier room
and more space to go. I have to
go back though I don’t
want to,
so I start planning the next
one. A little longer. A little
further. A little fewer
people, and then maybe next
time, I won’t feel the need
to settle back to what
I know.
